Tanya’s Final Day in Milwaukee: Joy, Laughter, and a Heartfelt Wish💙
Before heading home, Tanya spent her final day in Milwaukee soaking up one last bit of joy, comfort, and companionship at Kathy’s House. After a week full of big milestones, today brought a lighter, playful kind of healing — the kind that fills the heart as much as it restores the body.
The morning began with a friendly round of bingo (because even recovery deserves a little competition 😉), followed by a stop at Build-A-Bear. Gunnie — Tanya’s steadfast travel companion — got a fresh pair of aviator shades and brand-new combat boots, and he has never looked more ready for duty.
And then came the sweetest moment of the day.
On the way back, Tanya made a detour to the North Pole for a quick visit with Santa himself… and she asked for the one thing everyone is wishing for: a kidney for Jason. A simple, heartfelt request — full of love, hope, and the belief that this journey still holds beautiful things ahead. 🤞
Now, with bags (carefully not lifted!) and hearts full, Tanya is feeling grateful, hopeful, and ready for the journey home.
Her recovery continues to bring forward the very hope and momentum that Jason needs as he moves closer to his own transplant through DOVE Transplant - Living Kidney Donation for Veterans.
ABOUT JASON
Jason, who was diagnosed with IgA Nephropathy at 31 years old, has spent his adult life serving others — his country, his family, and his community — all while managing years of dialysis and the daily challenges of kidney failure. Tanya’s gift represents a turning point in his long fight for health and hope.
